Happy Soles Fleece Bedding
Happy Soles Bedding is sold in aid of Reading Guinea Pig Rescue.
It is a fleecy bedding with a stiff back to wick away wetness. Useful for post op use, use in pens/cages/hutches or for travelling boxes. Planet Guinea recommend washing it before use to get rid of any loose fibres.
Whilst Happy Soles bedding is used for complete cage coverage in some homes we would like to stress that guinea pigs should not be deterred from burrowing/tunneling, and many will try to get under their Happy Soles bedding. Tunnelling is a natural behaviour for guinea pigs and they should be allowed to express it (Animal Welfare Act 2007), tunneling in and munching on hay is a big part of the mental stimulation needed for pet guinea pigs.
Hay can be provided in litter trays or the like for this purpose, though Planet Guinea recommends a minimum of half the cage is covered in a suitable bedding for foraging- here Happy Soles is only used for post op guineas and under some of the fiddlestix. No hay racks are used on Planet Guinea either, just Bags of Fun or Piles of Good Hay (usually local meadow hay).
